Confluent Photonics Raises $3 Million in Second Round Financing

SALEM, N.H., Sep 11, 2003 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Confluent Photonics, a leading provider of optical transport solutions, including the Lightchip family of Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) products for CATV and telecom carriers, today announced the closing of its $3 million Series B financing. InnoCal Venture Capital, Rustic Canyon Ventures, and INVESCO Private Capital participated in this latest round. These firms also participated in the company's $11 million Series A financing in December of 2000.

Confluent Photonics Corporation was established in December 2000 as a developer of planar waveguide optical components based on silicon-on-insulator (SOI) semiconductor fabrication techniques. In 2002 Confluent Photonics added the Lightchip DWDM product line, through the acquisition of the business assets and the development team of Lightchip, Inc.
Confluent Photonics products define the state of the art in high- performance components and subsystems for dense wavelength division multiplexing. The company's DWDM systems enable service providers to increase bandwidth in CATV, metropolitan, and long-haul optical networks and to derive the maximum ROI from existing network infrastructures.
